04 Dec Your Manicure

There’s an old saying which says that the hands are the visiting card of a woman. They show if she cares about her appearance, her nail design can express her personality and so on. Needless to say that any woman who considers herself to be stylish needs to give proper attention to the manicure procedure. There are several types of manicures that one can try and they are classified according to several factors.

  • According to the hand care procedures:
  1. The European Manicure. This type of manicure is the most popular one and it is considered to be a normal manicure in most nail salons. With this cosmetic procedure, the hands are soaked in a blend of warm water and nurturing herbs. After that, they are trimmed and polished.
  2. The Paraffin Manicure. This manicure is an excellent cure for dry, cracked or overworked hands. This manicure can include either simple paraffin or a mixture of paraffin, oils and herbs.  The paraffin properties are very useful in moisturizing the skin. This procedure is often followed by a hand massage.
  3. The Hot Stone manicure. This is a basic manicure with the added benefit of hot stones placed over the hands. Hot stones are also used in a lot of body massages because they are relaxing and therapeutic.
  4. Fish Manicure. This manicure involves using a certain specie of tiny fish which eat the dead skin off the hands. This cosmetic procedure is illegal in certain US states and various countries due to the fact that there are a lot of controversies around it such as the fact that the procedure is not very sanitary and the fish are starved before the procedures.

  • According to the type of extensions:

Nowadays most nail salons have nail extensions included in their services. These types of manicures can be very affordable and they last longer than normal manicures.

  1. Acrylic nails. These are the most popular fake nails because they are the cheapest ones. The fake nails have a plastic resemblance and they are made from a mixture of acrylic nail powder. A manicure like this can last 2-4 weeks before needing adjustments.
  2. Gel nails. These nail extensions are similar to acrylics but they are more elastic and they have a better resemblance to natural nails.
  3. Fiberglass of silk wraps. As the name suggests, these fake nails are done by using fiberglass pieces or silk fabrics which are glued to the natural nail. This is a higher quality type of fake nails but it is also more expensive than acrylics or gel nails.
